About the College

Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management and Research (GHS-IMR) took birth under the banner of J.K. Organization Kanpur, in 1995. J.K. Organization has been the vanguard of industrial progress in India, besides fulfilling corporate social responsibility. It has established several primary schools, secondary schools and colleges in many parts of India, all of which have earned name and fame in the educational sector. GHS-IMR was established with the avowed objectives of imparting formal management education, and accordingly with the approval of All India Council for technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.) ministry of HRD government of India.

GHS-IMR started its activities with two-year fulltime and three-year part time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (P.G.D.M.) courses. It is pursuing its mission of excellence with great zeal and perseverance in the area of management education. It has been established with the benevolence and support of JK Organization, Kanpur. The management is in the hands of Governing Council comprising eminent industrialists and educationists. It is equipped with sprawling infrastructure and instructional facilities with Overhead Projectors, LCD Projector, Television Sets & VCR Microphone Speaker System, including computerised information system, computer lab, high profile- core Associates and Visiting Faculty which acts as a yardstick for enhancing the learning experience for prospective future managers.

The aim of GHS-IMR is to develop professional managers for corporate sector and do empirical and analytical research in social and corporate sector, to serve people of India and foster the nation’s progress. The target of our program extends beyond organized sectors of economy to small enterprises, NGOs, Welfare Organizations, etc. GHS-IMR aims at developing technical, professional and managerial excellence, and social and cultural sensitivity. It has also concern for environment, besides management ethics. The academic programs strive to impart management education and equip the student community with more effective techniques and decision-making abilities and also extend impetus to budding manager for excellence in the area of management.

The entire learning process at GHS-IMR is focused on inculcating in participants sensitivity to real-world issues and an ability to become leaders in their chosen fields. Adaptability to change is the driving force in our efforts to produce valued and socially responsive managers at GHS-IMR. Our high tolerance for change has allowed us to leverage IT in achieving our goals, and today world-class infrastructure and facilities support our programs.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management, both Full time and Part time, programs have been approved by AICTE, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Besides theoretical and research oriented studies, we impart quality training in Management through classroom education, practical assignment, seminars/workshops and visits to Industry/Business houses. The Institute at all time invariably upholds the high ideals and moral values of J.K. organization that is the umbrella under which it is placed.

Placement for the class of 2006-08 started on 1st October and within the short span of time all the students were placed. 103 students from different academic backgrounds & work-experience were offered  111 jobs in 55 companies.
This year saw participation coming from the following sectors:
RETAIL,  IT, BANKING   FINANCIAL , SERVICES, MEDIA, F.M.C.G/CONSUMER DURABLES, TELECOM ANALYTICS
TRAVEL,  EDUCATION, ETC. EXPORTS

A total of 111offers (plus 7 Pre-placement offers) were made to 103 students i.e. 1.07 offers per student. IT/ITES and Banking & financial services made the maximum number of offers with HDFC, Redington, CeaseFire, Kotak Mahindra being some of the key recruiters.

Sector diversification was a predominant feature of Placement – 2008 with sectors like Travel, Tourism & media offering lateral profiles. More than 55 companies showed interest in recruiting from GHS-IMR out of which 36 could recruit.
