What is AIMA MAST exam?

The All India Management Association (AIMA announced its plans of introducing the Management Aptitude & Skill Test (MAST). This was introduces on Sep 22 2011.

This 150-minute, computer-based screening test will be designed to assess an MBA graduate’s skills. The results of the test will help the companies chose the right candidate by making the best match of the candidate’s skills and the requirement of the job.

The test will provide an employability ranking by accessing the candidate”s management aptitude, domain knowledge in areas of specialisation like finance, marketing, HR, international business, operations & IT. MAST will also assess personality traits such as leadership, stress management, decision-making, and teamwork abilities.

As per media reports, recruiters like Deloitte, Dabur, MetLife India, Idea Cellular, Camlin Ltd, Alembic Ltd, HLL, Pfizer, Parle, PwC India, McAfee, Nokia, Lenovo, JM Financial, Reliance Industries, Suzlon and TATA Communications are ready to use the MAST score during recruitment.

The Management Aptitude and Skills Test (MAST) will address the employers’ long-time grievance of poor employability of a large number of fresh management graduates.

The employers will have the opportunity to choose students with the right skill. It also makes the recruitment process cost effective and efficient. The students will have a pan India exposure to the job market. It will also act as a level-playing field irrespective of geographical location or category of the B-School.

In the current Business scenario companies are beginning to understand that to stay competitive they need to focus on developing and hiring most suitable candidates for the right job. The task becomes tougher when the talent is raw and needs focused grooming. It is a huge challenge in terms of time and money for the recruiters to explore this talent from across the B Schools which have mushroomed in the country in the last decade.

MAST is structured keeping in mind the current Industry trends & practices for hiring of young fresh management talents.  The objective of MAST is to identify potential managers who are capable of making a difference in the management of the organsiation and create path that is good not only for them, but also for the society.

What is the eligibility to take part in AIMA MAST exam?

The minimum qualification for appearing in MAST is MBA/PGDM or equivalent degree/diploma in management from a recognized University/Institute. There is no minimum percentage requirement for taking the test. There is no age bar. Job experience is not necessary. A final year student can also appear provisionally

Important:-MBA/PGDM or equivalent degree/diploma in management from a recognized University/Institute should be 2 year Full Time  or 3 year Part Time or 3 year Distance Learning Programme. The courses having duration less than 2 year are not eligible.

Note:- The candidates who have passed on or after 2008 are only eligible.

How to apply for the MAST exam?

Candidate can register for the test through online mode only and the payment of Rs 1750/- is to be made through Credit Card/Debit Card/ATM card (Approved by Master/Visa).  Aspiring candidates have to provide certain details from the Card at the time of online registration. Therefore, they must have the Card ready before filling up the Registration Form.

What is the pattern for MAST examination?

MAST will be computer-based and will be of 150-minutes duration. Students will be tested in various fields divided in three main sections as

1.Psychometric assessment

Personality traits commonly held in high demand by recruiters stated below will be tested

  • Decision Making Ability
  • Team Work
  • Adaptability
  • Stress Management
  • Initiator
  • Ethical Values
  • Negotiation skills
  • Stability

2.General Aptitude

Ability tests will assess logical reasoning or thinking performance and will evaluate the following

  • Numerical Ability
  • Managerial Ability
  • Reasoning
  • English Language

3.Domain Knowledge

Domain Knowledge Test will be Case Study based followed by multiple choice questions in the following areas:

  • HR
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • IT
  • International Business
  • Finance

What is the selection process of AIMA MAST exam?

The results of the MAST test would comprise of the scores of all students along with detailed information about their traits and skills. AIMA will also upload the resumes of all students who have taken the test, making them available to recruiters registered at the AIMA website.

What is the validity of MAST score?

Validity of the MAT score is for that particular session for most MI’s is one year.
