  1. QS MBA World Tour Comes to Africa and the Middle East in April - The TopMBA QS World Tour has announced plans to host four MBA fairs in Africa and the Middle East. The fairs give MBA candidates students the opportunity to meet and interact with admissions officers and alumni from a number of top business schools.

    The fairs generally have panels and seminars that are dedicated to admissions procedures, scholarships, studying for the GMAT, and other important information potential students need to prepare their MBA applications.

  2. Henley Adds Themes to Its EMBA Program - The Henley Business School at the University of Reading has announced plans to add themed classes to its EMBA program.

    The themes are made up of modules that range across several different industries, including corporate finance, construction management, and real estate.

    According to Henley's website, the main curriculum of the two year EMBA program will stay the same, but students will periodically take classes in their chosen specialty.

  3. Marylhurst University Announces MBA Concentration in Real Estate Studies - Marylhurst University has announced plans to add a concentration in real estate studies to its online MBA program.

    The new concentration is aimed at people who are already working in the real estate field and would like to gain new knowledge and skills. According to the school's website, working professionals find the flexibility of an online program a huge advantage.

    Marlyhurst's online MBA program is 18 months long. The concentration in real estate studies requires students to take one additional class per semester.

  4. AMBA to Host Accredited MBA Fair in London on April 17 - The UK-based Association of MBAs (AMBA) will be hosting an Accredited MBA Fair in London on April 17. The three-hour event is designed to give prospective MBA students a chance to meet representatives from accredited business schools primarily from the UK, but also a few from continental Europe.

  5. George Fox to Offer Part-Time MBA Program in Downtown Portland - Newburg, Oregon-based George Fox University has announced plans to offer its part-time MBA program at its downtown Portland location.

    The program, which is already offered in George Fox's Tigard, Oregon and Boise, Idaho campuses, is 26 weeks long and designed for working professionals. Classes take place one evening a week and the occasional Saturday.

    According to the school's website, information sessions about the program are scheduled for March 4 and April 8 at the Portland's World Trade Center, where classes will be held.

  6. INSEAD Announces "Blue Ocean Strategy" MBA Certificate - INSEAD has announced plans to offer a certificate in "Blue Ocean Strategy" to its MBA participants.

    The certificate can be obtained by taking three specialized courses, which were developed around the business strategy book titled The Blue Ocean , that was co-authored by INSEAD professors W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne.

    The Blue Ocean , both the book and the certificate, promotes creating new market space or "Blue Ocean" rather than competing in an existing industry.

    The book was published in 2005, and has since sold more than 2 million copies.

  7. Southern New Hampshire Offers MBA in Social Media Marketing - Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has announced plans to offer a new MBA specialization in Social Media Marketing.

    The new program will allow students to study Web 2.0 concepts like microblogging and podcasting, and adapt these new ideas to existing business plans.

    With the Social Media Marketing program, SNHU is adding to its growing list of MBA specializations, which also include Sport Management, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability & Environmental Compliance.

    Like SNHU's other offerings, the MBA in Social Media Marketing will be offered both online, and at its campuses in Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth and Salem, New Hampshire; and Brunswick, Maine.

  8. Philadelphia's LaSalle University Announces Accelerated MBA Program - AACSB-accredited LaSalle University School of Business in Philadelphia has announced it is introducing a new, full-time Accelerated MBA program. Students who have already studied business at the undergraduate level can complete the program in 12 months; all others, in 15 months.

    Known as the "One-Year MBA," the program will offer three different tracks, in investment analysis, managerial finance, and marketing. A perk of the managerial finance track is that students who majored in undergraduate accounting can complete their 150-hour CPA requirements.

  9. Capella University Launches New Distance Learning MBA Programs - Capella University has announced plans to launch a handful of new business-related distance learning programs, including a BS/MBA hybrid program.

    The new BS/MBA, according to the school's website, "allows eligible students in Capella's bachelor's degree programs in Business, Information Technology, and Psychology to begin earning master's-level credits after completing at least 100 undergraduate credits."

    Other new online courses at Capella include a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), which has an optional international summer component that will allow students to research aspects of globalization in the medical business.

  10. Rollins (Crummer) Launches "Key Executive MBA" Program - The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida has announced the launch of a new "Key Executive MBA" program targeted at senior-level executives, set to begin in Fall 2010.

    The new, part-time program will utilize distance learning along with once-a-month classroom sessions.

    Rollins has earned an accreditation from the AACSB.

  11. University of Iowa Tippie Expands Programs to Des Moines Campus - The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business has announced plans to offer its executive MBA program at its Des Moines campus.

    The program is designed to provide flexibility for those who are already working and living in and around Des Moines.

    According to UI's website, all classes will be held in Des Moines, except for a short residency at the Iowa City campus at the beginning of each academic year and an international seminar trip during the final semester.

    The program will include the same curriculum taught by the same professors as the one offered at the Iowa City campus, and take place over four semesters.

    It will begin in January 2011. Information sessions will take place in Des Moines on Thursday, Feb. 11 and Wednesday, March 24.

  12. Chicago Booth Announces Partnership With Deutsche Bank - The University of Chicago Booth School of Business announced plans to partner with Deutsche Bank in an effort designed to expand risk management and financial regulation.

    Through the partnership, Deutsche Bank will fund the creation of a new series of guest lectures for Chicago Booth MBA students, as well as a new summer conference for PhD students.

    The guest lecture series will start on February 9th, with Douglas Diamond, professor of finance and visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The event will be open to Booth MBA students and selected guests, and be held at Booth's Harper Center.

  13. West Virginia University to Offer EMBA Online - West Virginia University (WVU) has announced plans to serve up its AACSB-accredited Executive MBA (EMBA) program in an online flavor.

    The new distance learning program starts next fall and will run for two years. Although the majority of the work is done online, four 3- or 4-day residences are required at WVU's campuses at Morgantown and Washington D.C. According to the school, these serve to build a connection to the school and to classmates.

    Additionally, the program allows students to study abroad in Germany, Ireland, China, Poland, the Czech Republic, or Italy.

  14. San Francisco State to Offer Sustainable EMBA - San Francisco State University (SFSU) College of Business has announced plans to offer a new, accelerated EMBA program with an emphasis in sustainable business, hoping to tap into a growing niche market of similar programs.

    The new, 16-month program will start in January 2011, and will combine business and economic fundamentals with a focus in ethical and sustainable business growth. According to the school's website, the new program "will offer an opportunity for people in business to shift careers or ramp up sustainability experience."

    Classes will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at SF State's Downtown Campus in the Westfield San Francisco Centre.

  15. Upcoming TopMBA Connect Events for January-March - QS will be holding its TopMBA Connect 1-2-1 events at 12 cities in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East this spring.

    These events are free, and give prospective students the opportunity to speak one-on-one with representatives from attending business schools. Participants are encouraged to apply early in advance to ensure they are scheduled conversation slots with the business schools of their choice.

    The events are also an opportunity to learn from MBA experts about the application process, the GMAT and financing options.
