About the College
Tezpur University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994. The objects of this unitary type Central University as envisaged in the statutes are that it shall strive to offer employment oriented and interdisciplinary course to meet the local and regional aspirations and the development of the state of Assam and also offer courses and promote research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in the emerging areas in Science and Technology.
The Department of Business Administration came into existence in January, 1995, through enrolment of its first batch of students to the 2 year full time MBA Programme. This Programme is recognized by the AICTE. The full time MBA course comprises four semesters during which students are to undergo 40 to 45 courses and carry out a project work during summer training on real world problem in a corporate world. The annual intake is 30. The department offers specialization in five disciplines – Finance, Human Resource, Marketing, Production & Systems Management.
Business Courses offered
Master of business administration. The department follows a three tier selection procedure starting with the written test (MAT, Management Aptitude Test) conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association). Candidates are short listed based on their MAT score are then invited for Group Discussion & Personal interview at the department of Business Administration. The final merit list is prepared based on the score obtained in all the above three tests and achievements in academic and co-curricular activities.

Life at Campus
The department is on the ground floor of the building which also houses a few other departments. The department has 4 class rooms and individual rooms for each of the faculty. The process for acquiring a few more rooms on the same floor is on.
The Department has an elaborate computer laboratory accessible to the students. Besides there is a common computer centre meant for the students of the entire University. Practical LAB classes are also being arranged for the students of the department. apart from this, the department also houses the latest software packages like Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), operation research packages, accounting and project management packages, DBMS packages etc.
The whole University network is connected to the internet through a SCPC VSAT station with a 64 kbps capacity via ERNET. All students are allowed to access the internet without any charge for unlimited time.
The University library possesses adequate stock of books and journals. The collection of books on all topics of management is commendable. The library subscribes to national and international journals published in the related field for ready reference and consultation by the students. The library is also equipped with all the latest journals and periodicals on Management.
The elite Board Room in the department is well-equipped and well-furnished. It is used for case-study discussions, guest lectures, power point presentations etc. The room is air-conditioned, has a sitting capacity of 30 people and is equipped with a LCD projector.
The department has a Seminar Hall with a sitting capacity of around 75 people. Apart from lectures, presentations, it is best suited for conducting events which has a audience numbering above 50.
A cafeteria is situated in the ground floor of the building. It provides refreshments like flavored tea, coffee and snacks. Apart from refreshments, it also sells stationeries like CD ROMs, floppy disks, pen/pencils, notebooks etc.
The University provides hostel accommodation. There are three boys hostels and three girls hostels. The girls hostel are provided with University appointed security guards. Each hostel runs its own mess and is managed by the nominated boarders of respective hostels.
The University provides free of cost bus conveyance for students and staff of the University to and from Tezpur town and campus.
The Health Center of the University provides primary medical facility to all the members of the University community.
The University provides opportunities for students to excel in various departments of sports. Apart from the basic sports facilities, the University boasts of its basket ball, volley ball courts, cricket and football grounds, badminton and table-tennis court and the well equipped multi-gym.
