About the College
Welcome to SDM-IMD a business school that is part of a reputed and progressive group of educational institutions.
SDM-IMD was set up in 1993 to offer high quality, relevant and meaningful management education to young, budding leaders of the country. SDM-IMD is promoted by the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Trust that has extensive experience in managing about 40 educational institutions of repute for over 42 years.
The strength of SDM-IMD lies in the emphasis on values and ethics as a part of the toolkit of managers. The focus on quality rather than quantity ensures that all students have plenty of opportunities to involve themselves in various co-curricular and extra curricular activities that help in shaping all round personalities that is so essential to develop good leaders.
A very new state-of-the-art campus provides infrastructure and facilities that match the best in the world. The faculty has a good blend of academic and corporate experience that makes the courses and pedagogy relevant to the students and to industry.
SDM Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD), Mysore has carved a niche as the pioneer of management teaching practices. SDM-IMD possess more than a decade of experience in setting the standards of management education.
With an ever-growing repertoire of campus placements, SDM-IMD is considered as an institution that nurtures practical managers for improving effectiveness and adding value to organisations in India and abroad.
With stringent admission processes, SDM-IMD chooses only those best suited as its student managers. The process for the flagship PGDM programme is through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs followed by a Managerial Aptitude Screen (MAS). The previous academic record and work experience of the candidates also plays a role in the screening process.
A part of the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Trust, Ujire, (SDMET), SDM-IMD has a philosophy forged by decades of experience. SDMET runs over 40 premium educational institutions including higher education centers in medical, engineering, dental and management sciences. The trust is also involved in charity and social upliftment.

About the Campus
An amalgamation of modern infrastructure with stylised classic architecture makes the setting perfect for freeing the mind for knowledge absorption. Green courtyards welcome the visitor to the tree-lined avenues leading to the various facilities. Situated at the foothills of the scenic Chamundi Hills, the campus can be considered a creation of technology manifest in the lap of nature.
The classrooms are designed in a way that facilitates customized attention to each student. Brainstorming is encouraged and practiced in small alcoves projecting out of these rooms. Facilities in the classrooms include.
The SDM-IMD Library is a resource centre for teaching, learning and research. Being the heart of the academic centre, it is home for all information services. With an aim of providing “Anytime, Anywhere Access” to information, the library contributes and supports SDM-IMD in transforming talent into business leadership. It plays a proactive role in enabling access to information resources of all kind and providing innovative, responsive and effective service to meet the changing needs of the academic community.
The library utilizes IT extensively to ensure that resources are accessible from anywhere at anytime. The library is automated using the user-friendly and an Open Source Software called “NewGenLib”.
The auditorium is a spacious hub of discourses, seminars, presentations, etc. With a capacity to seat over 300, the auditorium also serves as a theatre for management films. Cultural, educational and recreational fests are held continuously, making the learning process more enjoyable and interactive.
SDM IMD has a fully air-conditioned, small Conference Hall for faculty meetings. It is niche-ly located between the PGDM Office and the classrooms, on the ground floor. The Conference Hall hosts a number of interactions between the guests on campus, Corporate, members of the press and the faculty members. Our conference room seats up to 20 with aesthetically arranged seats. It is ideal for laptop business presentations for a smaller group.
The SDM-IMD hostel is a home away from home. With fully furnished single rooms, lounge / study area, recreational facilities and a common dining area, the SDM-IMD hostel is a mini-world of its own. The other facilities in the hostel include broadband internet access, housekeeping, dry cleaning and laundry. Top physical and emotional fitness is a pre-requisite for performance in today’s hectic globalised environment. Practice of yoga and meditation is thus a practical and value-added solution. Realizing the need, the Institute has made yoga and meditation classes compulsory to all its students.
A spectacular 4000 square foot games block, indoor walking / jogging track, table tennis courts and a private fitness centre help the students pursue their favorite sport and help them stay fit and healthy.
